Abstract

This is the first of eight Progenitor papers, one per address of the lattice, each executing the same fixed method: derive the address's structural facts from the published theorems, coin its names by evaluating the naming function N of AH-COINAGE-1 at all three layers of the gloss convention, and test the prose layer against the public trope corpus. The address treated is T0 (000), the all-unmarked address. The derivation is short and inherited: T0's name of record is its address string, three satisfied negations, a total description by AH-ABSENCE-1's Question 2; its grade is S₁ = ¬Carried(a), the collapse verdict; its handle under the adopted compound grammar is uncarried-ungrounded, the only address handle built entirely of negation morphemes. The coinage result is structural: 000 is a palindrome, so T0 is a fixed point of the stance action, and by AH-COINAGE-1's rule the Progenitor name at this address is laid free, with no stance signature, because both observers of the figure compute the same name. Under the opponent read σ, T0's partner is T7: on this pair complementarity is theorem, not commitment, per the adopted reading of AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 4. The prose layer is then argued as an assertion in the gloss's prerogative discipline: the corpus's decreed empty-heart Progenitor, Too Different ("two agents are compared and found incompatible, leading to estrangement"), is claimed to be prose the computation supports, estrangement as the reading of a relation in which no distinction is marked anywhere, and the claim is handed to the corpus to audit at scale. The test section states what the public surface shows in aggregate, and states exactly which stronger tests are gated behind undisclosed records. Cross-thread, the paper forwards evidence to AH-SUITS-1's Question 1 without answering it: the question of whether heart is the extremal suit remains open, and this paper sharpens what kind of evidence could ever close it.

The ongoing conversation

This paper is one move in a published exchange, and it should be read as such. The series is a set of proposals by Adaptor House to establish a concrete stance, and the argument for that stance, on why particular first-order-logic strings and proofs were mapped to particular linguistic words and phrases; the express goal of multilingual mapping is a stated motivation of the series. AH-DERIVABILITY-1 opened the exchange by proving the five-grade table a theorem of Grounded and Carried and proving that position matters (Proposition 2) [1]. AH-SUITS-1 showed the lattice forces the complement pairs and nothing further, and left four Questions and a Question 0 standing [2]. AH-GRADE-GLOSS-1 fixed the convention this paper names in: strings as names of record, compound handles over signature morphemes, prose as the publishing prerogative, auditable at corpus scale [3]. AH-ABSENCE-1 established absence as a value and every address string as a total description, which is the property that makes this paper's subject describable at all: T0 is the address that is nothing but satisfied negations [4]. AH-COINAGE-1 supplied the instrument this paper executes: the naming function N(token, stance), its fixed points, and the rule that fixed points name free while mixed addresses name signed [5]. The Progenitor papers are the exercise the gloss promised: derive the string, argue the handle, lay the prose claim, hand the claim to the corpus [3, §7]. This is the first exercise, taken at the address where the series' hardest-won property, that absence describes rather than fails to describe, carries the entire load.

1. Method and scope

The method is fixed across all eight Progenitor papers: Derive, Coin, Test. Each paper instantiates it at one address and engages one Question of AH-SUITS-1 as evidence exchange, never as answer; the Questions belong to that paper and close only by its own answer conditions [2, §5]. Nothing below revises any published theorem, and this paper decrees nothing: where a result of the derivation touches a decision that belongs to the author of record, the residue is marked candidate-for-decree and left standing.

Two adopted decisions of the internal register are consumed below and cited here once, in the series' protected form. First, the compound-handle grammar left open by AH-GRADE-GLOSS-1 §6 has been decided: grade handles may elide the Carried conjunct (the elision rule enters the grammar), and no quantifier lexemes are admitted, fixing the handle table this paper reads from (company internal citation by the author of record, July 2026†). Second, AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 4's partial derivation of axiom C has been adopted as the reading of record: C is theorem on the palindromic pairs and authored commitment on the mixed pairs, and AH-SUITS-1's Question 0 accordingly narrows its attack surface to the mixed pairs (company internal citation by the author of record, July 2026†).

2. Definitions

Definition 1 (inherited). As throughout the series: addresses a = (g, m, t) ∈ {0,1}³ over lines ℓ ∈ {ground, middle, top}; signature with one predicate P(a, ℓ); Grounded(a) := P(a, ground); Carried(a) := P(a, middle) ∨ P(a, top); grades named by their strings S₁ through S₅ per the gloss Convention; addresses by their address strings [1][3].

Definition 2 (inherited, stance). As in AH-COINAGE-1: stances G and C; transport ρ(g, m, t) = (t, m, g); the naming function N(token, stance); the opponent read σ = κ ∘ ρ with κ the linewise polarity swap. Every token printed in this paper is declared stance G [5].

Definition 3 (the subject). T0 is the address (0, 0, 0). Its address string, and by the Convention its name of record, is:

¬Grounded(a) ∧ ¬P(a, middle) ∧ ¬P(a, top)

Definition 4 (Progenitor layer, cited). The corpus of record binds one exemplar trope pair per suit, the Progenitors, decreed by the author of record and validated by the corpus tooling as same-suit, opposite-pole, symmetric pairs (company internal citation by the author of record, July 2026†). The suit-pole placements and record surfaces cited in §5 are Reader-visible; the Progenitor designation itself is a decision of the internal register, cited in the protected form.

3. Derive

The structural facts, assembled from the record. T0's string is three satisfied negations: by AH-ABSENCE-1 this is a complete positive description, not a threefold failure; every line of T0 is settled, and settled to the vacuum face [4, Q1, Q3]. The grade follows from the string by weakening: T0's string entails ¬Carried(a) = S₁, the band it shares with T4, and the shared verdict erases nothing, because the two address strings disagree in their first conjunct and the band name never mentions Grounded [1, Thm. 1; 3, §4; 4, §5]. The canonical description of record reads "Origin collapse. No structure to recurse on. Empty." [6]; as a formal condition this is the string itself, read clause by clause: no ground to recurse on (¬Grounded), and no carry to recurse with (¬P at both upper lines). The trope-binding rule of the system of record gives the grade its operational sense: a traversal resolving at the S₁ band documents collapse [6].

Handles, under the adopted grammar. The grade handle of S₁ is uncarried; T0's address handle is uncarried-ungrounded (adopted table, §1†). One observation is carried forward to the Coin step because it does work there: T0's is the only address handle in the table composed entirely of negation morphemes, exactly as its string is the only address string composed entirely of negations. Handle and string agree about what kind of address this is: the one whose every fact is an absence.

What T0 is not. T0 is not "the false address": S₁ is a band of two, and the other member, T4, is ground asserting into absence, a different sentence entirely [4, §5]. And T0 is not an absence of description: the totality property is consumed here as AH-COINAGE-1 consumed it, N is defined at 000 because the string there is total [5, Def. 5]. The empty address is the lattice's proof that its language can say "nothing is there" and be right.

4. Coin

Layer 1 (name of record). N(000, G) resolves the token to T0 and returns the address string of Definition 3. This is the name of record, and the paper has already printed it.

The fixed-point fact, and what it licenses. 000 is a palindrome: ρ(000) = 000, so N(000, G) = N(000, C) by AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 2, and T0 is one of the four fixed points of the stance action [5]. By that paper's rule, fixed points name free; mixed addresses name signed: a Progenitor name laid at T0 requires no stance declaration, because the ground-up observer and the top-down observer compute the same name. Both read the same figure: no mark under them, no mark reaching them, absence wherever they look. The first Progenitor paper therefore begins at the address where the coinage carries the smallest authored residue the lattice permits.

The opponent read. σ(000) = κ(000) = 111: T0's partner under the opponent read is T7, and because 000 is a palindrome, σ here reduces to complementation. Under the adopted reading of Proposition 4 (§1†), on this pair complementarity is theorem: T0 and T7 are one configuration and its opponent read, two observers stating one distinction from opposite sides [5, Prop. 4a]. Whatever suit takes the extremal pair receives both poles of a derived pairing, a fact §6 forwards to the Question that owns it.

Layer 2 (handle). uncarried-ungrounded, the adopted table's pure negation-compound (§3). The handle regenerates its string under the adopted grammar with no elision (both conjuncts of the band-plus-ground profile are present) and imports no lexeme; criterion (i) of the gloss holds at full strength at this address [3, §6].

Layer 3 (prose), argued as an assertion. The prerogative discipline requires the form "this prose is bound to this string for the following reasons, and here is what would refute it" [3, §7]. The corpus's decreed Progenitor at the empty heart pole is the record Too Different, whose Reader-visible surface reads: "Two agents are compared and found incompatible, leading to estrangement" [7]. The claim this paper lays, marked as a derived proposal and not a binding:

Estrangement is prose the computation at 000 supports. The address string asserts that no distinction is marked at any line: nothing held in common at the ground, nothing carried between the faces. Read at the heart suit's register of investment [2, §4 Q1], a relation at 000 is one in which no distinction was ever made and held between the parties: not a bond that broke, but the address at which there is no structure to have bonded. "Too different" is the reading world's sentence for exactly that: comparison finds no shared marked line, and the relation resolves to the address where every line is vacuum. The prose is agreement-vocabulary in the sense of AH-COINAGE-1's exploratory remark: at a fixed point, both parties' observers agree, and at this fixed point what they agree on is total absence [5, §5].

The claim inherits the string's refutation conditions per the gloss: at the current corpus scale it is an assertion held mostly on argument; when the compendium's nearest-neighbor distances are FOL-derived, the records that cluster at 000 either are the records this estrangement prose predicts, or the prose retires [3, §7].

Interaction with the decreed trope, under the Revision Rule. The coined prose supports the decreed binding rather than contradicting it: no flag change or renaming is proposed, and trope ids are in any case never renamed by a paper. Had the derivation contradicted the decreed Progenitor, this paper's duty would have been to argue the contradiction on the record and route any change through the adopted revision mechanics; that duty was not triggered at this address.

Residue, marked candidate-for-decree. N underdetermines prose by design: the prose layer is the publishing prerogative, not a value of N [5, Def. 5]. Two items stand for the author of record. (1) Whether the estrangement claim above is adopted as the house's prose of record over T0's string, marked derived only on the author of record's confirmed landing. (2) Whether the fixed-point prose family AH-COINAGE-1 marked exploratory (agreement-vocabulary: standoff, mirror, still point) should extend to T0 with a member of its own; if it does, this paper's candidate is stillness in vacuum, offered without a binding, as the T0 instance of what the four palindromes share.

5. Test

What the public surface shows, in aggregate. The Reader corpus at the time of writing holds 28 records: heart 10 (5 empty, 5 full), hourglass 14 (7, 7), star 2 (1, 1), mountain 2 (1, 1) [7]. Two facts bear on the coinage. First, the five empty-heart surfaces read, by name and description: Too Different (incompatibility, estrangement), It Was Never Going to Work Out, Mutual Destruction, Doomsday Prophecy, Uncertainty Reigns [7]. Every one describes severance, collapse, or the foreclosure of a bond; none describes a sustained structure. At the surface stratum, the empty heart pole is uniformly the pole of unbonding, which is what the S₁ band's operational sense (collapse documented [6]) predicts if the extremal assignment of AH-SUITS-1 Question 1 holds. Second, the suit whose two poles the decreed Progenitor pair occupies is heart (§2, Def. 4†), which is decree-layer placement, and the discipline of AH-SUITS-1 §5 is quoted rather than relaxed: questions answered by decree are marked decided, not derived [2].

What is gated, stated exactly. The strong test of the prose claim is per-record: the phase traversals of the heart records, evaluated through the binding rule at 000. Under the corpus disclosure gate, a published paper may quote a record's core or phase data only if that record's governance marks it published; at the time of writing, no heart record is published, and the one published record in the corpus belongs to another suit (company internal citation by the author of record, July 2026†). The per-record test is therefore deferred, not waived: it stands as an open audit this paper requests, to run when disclosure is granted or the records publish. Until then the test section claims only what the aggregate shows, and the aggregate is consistent with the coinage.

Test verdict at this address. Coined name unrevised by data: the aggregate supports and nothing contradicts. The change log will record any revision a future disclosure forces.

6. Cross-thread: evidence for Question 1, not an answer

AH-SUITS-1's Question 1 asks whether heart is the extremal suit: full heart at 111, empty heart at 000 [2, §4]. Per the compendium's status line of record, the suit table is "associations, not rulings" [7], and this paper forwards evidence in both directions without touching the Question's own answer conditions.

Forwarded. Under the adopted reading of AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 4 (§1†), the extremal pair {000, 111} is one of the two pairs on which complementarity is theorem: whichever suit takes it inherits a pairing that two observers derive rather than one author decrees [5]. If that suit is heart, then the suit of investment and its withdrawal spans a pair whose unity is the strongest the lattice offers, and the empty pole's aggregate surface (§5) reads exactly as the extremal reading predicts. This is more, and differently shaped, evidence than the record names AH-SUITS-1 originally cited, which were associations awaiting a string [2, §4].

Complicated. Nothing above derives the assignment. AH-SUITS-1 Proposition 2 stands untouched: the suits-to-pairs choice is free among 4! orderings, invisible to every predicate of the signature [2], and no computation in this paper reaches the suit layer except through decree-layer placements cited as such. Question 1's doors remain its own: decree marked decided, or corpus contradiction, or the breaking of C, and the last door has narrowed but not closed, since C is now theorem on exactly the pair Question 1 concerns and authored only elsewhere (§1†). A challenger should note what that narrowing does to Question 1 specifically: the answer condition "by breaking C" is no longer available at the extremal pair without first refuting AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 4, whose own refutation conditions are published [5, §7]. The Question is left where it stands, sharpened.

7. Refutation conditions

Invited explicitly, per the series register. Any of the following breaks a claim of this paper, at the layer named:

  1. Derivation error (layer 1). Show T0's name of record misstates the address: any discrepancy between Definition 3's string and the characteristic conjunction of (0,0,0) in the signature of record. (This would breach AH-DERIVABILITY-1 and AH-GRADE-GLOSS-1 before it breached this paper, and is stated for completeness.)
  2. Fixed-point failure (coinage). Exhibit a live consumer in which naming T0 requires a stance declaration: a context where N(000, G) and N(000, C) come apart. By AH-COINAGE-1 Proposition 2 this requires ρ(000) ≠ 000 and is a refutation of that paper's mathematics, not only of this paper's use of it [5].
  3. Prose-claim failure (layer 3, corpus-scale). When the compendium's nearest-neighbor distances are FOL-derived, show that the records clustering at 000 are not the records the estrangement prose predicts: that the empty-heart cluster reads as something other than unbonding. This is the gloss's own audit, inherited unchanged [3, §7].
  4. Test failure (per-record, currently gated). Exhibit a disclosed heart record whose phase traversal through 000, evaluated under the binding rule of the system of record [6], contradicts the collapse-documentation reading this paper's test section relies on. The gate's location is stated in §5; the door is real and this paper holds it open against itself.

Refutations will be published at the address of record, dated and credited, alongside the claims they broke.

8. Discussion: the interlocutors

(Interlocutor register throughout; archive citations are archive-only and no derivation above reasons from them [8].)

The Receptive. The classical tradition drew this address and named it: the all-broken figure is Kun, the Receptive, Earth, the field that bears everything and asserts nothing. The concordance the archive keeps records the correspondence, and the archive's standing objection, that yin is receptive force rather than absence, lands with its full weight exactly here, at the only address that is yin at every line [8, archive-marked]. AH-ABSENCE-1 answered the objection in general: receptivity survives as far as it can be compounded from satisfied negations, and not one premise further [4]. T0 is where that answer is most exposed, because the tradition's reading of this figure is not privative at all: Kun is the generative pole, the mother, the field of all bearing. The formal reading of record says T0 documents collapse [6]; the tradition says the same figure is where everything begins. This paper does not adjudicate, and flags the confrontation for the archive side to take up in its own register: what did the tradition's readers do with the all-receptive figure, in practice, that a satisfied-negation reading must reconstruct or lose?

The valley, again. Laozi's vessel is useful because empty; the valley shapes the river by asserting nothing [9, archive-marked]. AH-ABSENCE-1 credited the tradition with holding absence-as-value without the instrument to test it [4]. At T0 the credit sharpens once more: the tradition consistently refused to read its all-yin figure as a mere lack, and the formal system, which proves the address a complete positive description, agrees with the refusal while disagreeing about what the description describes. Where the archive reads generativity and the corpus reads estrangement, there is a genuine open seam, and it is recorded here as one, not smoothed.

What is not claimed. No claim that the suit assignment is derived: Question 1 belongs to AH-SUITS-1 and remains open (§6). No claim that Too Different or any trope id is renamed, revised, or reflagged: the coined prose supports the decreed binding, and revisions route through the adopted mechanics in any case (§4). No claim that the prose claim is settled: it is an assertion under the gloss's audit conditions, awaiting corpus scale [3, §7]. And no claim of novelty in the instruments: the string convention, totality, the naming function, and the fixed-point rule are inherited exactly as cited [1][3][4][5].

9. Author's Position

Held, not argued here. The position (belief register, first person, per AH-DERIVABILITY-1 §6) is published as this paper's companion document on the archive side (AH-PROG-T0-1-H, historicalpresent.com/shared), the arrangement assumed from the precedent of AH-GRADE-GLOSS-1-H, AH-ABSENCE-1-H, and AH-COINAGE-1-H, awaiting per-paper confirmation by the author of record. Archive-only: never citable by live systems. The derivation (§3), the coinage claims with their layers marked (§4), the test verdict (§5), and the refutation conditions (§7) are this paper's entire challengeable surface.
